This is a brief list of some of the people whose lives and/or written works have significantly influenced my thinking, whether in terms of specific policies, or more fundamental questions of how to approach problems. (Some people who would otherwise belong on the list are not included to avoid giving a false impression of my current ideas. I do not necessarily agree with any specific position or behavior of these people, and indeed categorically reject some, such as Jefferson’s hypocrisy on the slavery question.)
