When the Senate sits to conduct an impeachment trial, it is acting as a jury. Every reason for which jury deliberations are secret applies to that. We have repeatedly seen that political pressure on Senators makes a fair trial of the impeachment matter impossible.

If Americans do not trust Senators to vote properly on impeachments, they should elect better ones.
